BRONCE AL ALUMINIO… FAMOSO PERO DESCONOCIDO… (parte I)
Si hay una aleación de bronce cuyas aplicaciones se hayan visto incrementadas de manera significativa en esta última década, esa es sin duda la del BRONCE AL ALUMINIO.
Sectores como el Energético, la Minería o Industria Extractiva, y en general aquellos en los que los ambientes y las condiciones operativas son muy exigentes, encuentran en el BRONCE AL ALUMINIO un material de altas prestaciones por su excelente relación de resistencia al desgaste y a agentes químicos/oxidantes, como, por ejemplo, los presentes en el agua marina.
Presenta un alto límite elástico Rp0,2 y resistencia a tracción Rm (valores típicos suelen ser 3800 kg/cm2 y 7000 kg/cm2, respectivamente), lo que unido a su notable alargamiento (A>13%), lo convierten en un material muy apto para trabajar en regímenes de carga fluctuantes y esfuerzos de fatiga.
¿Qué temperatura de trabajo es aceptable para aleaciones de Bronce al Aluminio?
Si las aleaciones de BRONCE AL ALUMINIO son adecuadas para trabajar en entornos, digámoslo, “agresivos”, entonces tenemos claro que la temperatura será una variable crítica de funcionamiento, puesto que sus características mecánicas disminuyen de forma geométrica al aumentar la misma.

Podemos establecer como temperaturas adecuadas de trabajo dentro del intervalo 0-60 ºC, siempre entendiéndolo como régimen estable de funcionamiento de la pieza de bronce. Pueden darse situaciones transitorias de mayor temperatura, de incluso hasta 60-120 ºC, pero en periodos de tiempo muy breves (hablamos de segundos). En caso contrario, las características decaen de manera abrupta y tendremos deformaciones indeseadas de la pieza o incluso llegar al colapso mecánico de la pieza.

Como con el resto de materiales, con el BRONCE AL ALUMINIO funcionando en un conjunto mecánico, un buen diseño que facilite su lubricación es de vital importancia, puesto que mantendrá la temperatura de trabajo controlada. En este caso, mejor será pecar en exceso que por defecto…
